(NEW YORK)(May 19, 2011) Republican Presidential Candidate Andy Martin holds a New York news conference today, Thursday, May 19th at 4:00 P.M. to announce he has asked Donald Trump to support Martin’s campaign for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination.
“Four years ago I knew about Barack Obama much of what I know now,” Martin states. “But I didn’t run for president in 2008. Why? Why am I running now? In 2008 I hoped Republican Party leaders would run an aggressive campaign against Obama. They refused to do so. In fact, John McCain actually undermined the opposition to Obama. McCain lost and America is now suffering with the Obama presidency.
“For 2012 I decided to run because I bring to the campaign a credible approach to opposing Obama: relentless attacks directed at Obama’s weaknesses, prevarications, manipulations and other personal defects.
“Once again in 2011 there is the Republican Party’s ‘preferred’ candidates’ field. I am not part of that club. From the leftist media’s latest Republican hero, Governor Mitch Daniels, down to the bedraggled campaign of Newton Gingrich, none of the Republican candidates are capable of waging effective opposition to Obama. Republican Party leaders are living in a dream world. Their ‘dreams’ keep me in the race.
“So where does my request to Donald Trump for support fit in?
“As Mr. trump garnered massive publicity for his potential ‘campaign’ I moved to the sidelines. I was eternally grateful that Trump took one of my issues—release of the Hawai’i birth certificate—and made it happen. I had always maintained that Obama was born in Honolulu so the release of the latest birth document confirmed my allegations and didn’t embarrass me. I was validated. I continue to seek access to Obama’s hidden educational records from Hawai’i, Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard Law School. What is Obama hiding?
“As someone in the midst of the presidential campaign battlefield I saw the emergence of what my polling had predicted and what Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post is now reporting (see link below/note it loads slowly). What did I predict that Cillizza is now reporting?
“I said on December 29th Republicans wanted to fight Obama. To even speculate that Mitch Daniels could be a ‘fighter’ in the presidential dimension is nonsense. As for the rest of the pack, they are too busy fighting each other. I am the only candidate running ads nationally that actually attack Obama (see our YouTube channel).
“So how are the Republicans going to defeat Obama if they can’t run a competent, aggressive, Chicago-style primary campaign against a quintessential Chicago-style incumbent? Are the powder puff derby candidates suddenly going to change their powder if one of them wins the nomination? Nonsense. McCain proved that doesn’t happen and can’t happen. September, 2012 is too late to change gears against Obama.
“What ordinary Republicans saw in Trump was someone who was potentially a fighter and who understood the ‘art of attack.’ Trump’s refusal to lead this movement will not make the movement disappear. People still want an aggressive campaign against Obama. I am the only candidate with a record of being able to mount an aggressive campaign, who understands the ‘art of attack.’ That is why I am asking Trump for his support, and why people who were initially intrigued by a Trump candidacy still have a Republican candidate they can count on to run a ‘Chicago-style’ campaign against Obama.
“The Power Puff Republican Presidential Candidates are a waste of everyone’s time. That’s why the leftist media support them, and not me. The last thing pro-Obama media want is a fight between me and Obama, with me attacking Obama instead of surrendering to Obama’s own aggressive tactics and dirty tricks.
“I don’t know if Trump wants to endorse anyone, but I’m asking. As for Republicans who want a ‘fighter’ as their presidential candidate, I can only say ‘Look at my campaign and compare it to my primary opponents, and decide for yourself who is capable of taking on Obama.’ It’s not the Powder Puff boys,” Martin says. “Romney? Gingrich? Pawlenty?
“Finally, let the Trump ‘campaign’ be a learning experience for Internet newbies. Last month I was deluged with emails and Facebook nonsense telling me to back Trump, all based on the mistaken assumption Trump was already running. Millions of people expect free emails to dislodge Obama. That is a dangerous and childish delusion. Politics is hard work, not just pressing the ‘send’ button for free emails or waiting for a billionaire to finance a ‘free’ campaign. If Obama’s opponents are not willing to work as hard and give as much as Obama’s leftist goons, Obama will be reelected. It’s that simple.”
